Project Description
We recognise LOVE in all its forms; we speak for those who are voiceless, and we seek to build bridges with those who have yet to understand where we’re coming from. We believe that DIVERSITY and INCLUSION are what drives Malta forward. Malta Pride engages all stakeholders to keep this wave of POSITIVE CHANGE year after year.
Malta has made great strides in LGBTQ+ Legislation however there is yet more to be done to change the hearts and minds of people so that it becomes a truly welcoming country for all sexual orientations and gender varied persons.
To organise such an event, it requires a lot of man-hours and expenses. Some of the expenses are recovered by corporate and institutional sponsorships, however we depend mostly on public donations to keep supporting the LGBTQ community all year round.
For Malta Pride 2019, we are planning events between the 6th and 15th September comprising of not just parties, but also community discussions, queer arts and safe spaces for networking
What are the envisaged costs of Malta Pride 2019?
We are growing year after year and expectations are increasing, thus we also have to provide better quality events that involve a lot of funds. We expect this year to surpass the EUR25,000 budget.
What happens with any surplus made from Malta Pride?
Up to this year, No Surplus was being made out of Pride however it is our wish to create a fund that serves to support the community and initiatives that are led by the community.
