Project Description

MCAST ICA FESTIVAL

The MCAST ICA Festival came about as a new approach to the annual exhibition held at MCAST’s Institute for the Creative Arts and is now in its fifth year running. It is a student-led event that showcases the best works produced at MCAST’s ICA and hosts a variety of workshops, talks and other activities in collaboration with established creative professionals.

Thus the MCAST ICA Festival serves as a bridge between MCAST ICA and the local arts and design community, celebrating the students’ creativity and honest, hard work while highlighting its relevance to industry stakeholders.

DIVERSIFY

Just as with the 2020 festival, the 2021 edition of the MCAST ICA Festival will undoubtedly be different to any that preceded it. The branding was designed to provide an optimistic feeling, giving people hope for a better future. That said, the main goal of this year’s festival is to highlight the diversity found at the Institute for the Creative Arts.

The tactile, cut and paste feel of the brand alludes to the zines of the ’70s and ’80s, whilst the illustration style is inspired by a classic flash tattoo design. Altogether, these styles create an aesthetic that feels nostalgic, whilst adhering to the latest design trends.

WHY PEOPLE SHOULD DONATE

Your donation will go towards the festival’s expenses and help pay for items like the students’ display labels, artist statements, and other printed materials, which are all essential for this exhibition. The ICA Festival is a valuable opportunity for MCAST’s budding creative professionals to showcase their work and breakthrough into the industry, and it wouldn’t be possible without your help.
