Project Description

Our Search and Rescue Unit of the Order of Malta is made up of highly trained volunteers and search dogs, ready to respond when people go missing or emergencies unfold.

We don’t just search — we coordinate, deploy, support, and save lives.

But today, one major limitation is holding us back:

We don’t yet have a fully equipped, dedicated response vehicle.

Why This Matters

In search and rescue, time is everything.

Right now, our operations are slowed down by fragmented transport:

  • Dogs travel separately from equipment
  • Critical gear is spread across multiple vehicles
  • On-site coordination is limited
  • Medical and rescue equipment is not always immediately accessible

This creates delays — and in our line of work, delays can cost lives.

Our Goal: A Fully Operational Mobile SAR Unit

We are raising €30,000+ to build a fully equipped Search & Rescue response vehicle — not just transport, but a mobile operational hub.

This vehicle will transform how we respond.

What This Vehicle Will Include

Canine Deployment System

  • Secure, ventilated transport crates for search dogs
  • Quick deployment setup for rapid search starts
  • Dedicated storage for tracking and scent equipment

Search & Rescue Equipment

  • Technical gear for urban, rural, and rubble searches
  • GPS tracking systems and navigation tools
  • Drone integration capability for aerial reconnaissance

Medical & First Response Capability

  • Fully stocked trauma kits
  • AED (defibrillator) for life-saving intervention
  • Equipment for both human and canine first aid

Mobile Command & Coordination Station

  • On-board monitor for:
    • Live drone feed
    • Search mapping & heatmaps
    • Team coordination
  • Power system (e.g. DJI power setup) to run equipment in the field
  • Communication systems for coordination with authorities

Storage & Operational Efficiency

  • Structured storage for all SAR equipment
  • Fast access layout — everything in its place
  • Designed for rapid deployment in real-world scenarios
